FROM THE FOREWORD OF THE BOOK
The publication of this book coincides with the 90th anniversary of the Taumarunui & Districts Returned and Service Association.
The history, the beginning, growth and development of the RSA embraces much that is full of interest, and it is fitting that the opportunity should be taken at this time to make a permanent record of our past.
New Zealand have been amongst the first to take their part in overseas wars and conflicts; and have paid dearly for the many losses of lives in the fighting.
The RSA have played their part in the assistance of helping the recuperation of the sick and wounded, gassed or shell shocked servicemen who returned to New Zealand and has fully played the part in supporting the families of the deceased.
I would like to make special mention to the work carried out by Jim in compiling this book. All his work has been voluntary in persuing minute books and records, and will make us far richer in the knowledge of the Central King Country, Taumarunui and the RSA in particular.
Like all books this one has a final page, but what has been recorded is not the end of the history of the Taumarunui RSA, it will be ongoing.
